Re: Blackberry OS 10 Development

You have to learn a new language.

You can port Android applications, about 70% of the API is available, but i would check very thoroughly if everything you want is available.

personally i used c++/Qt/Cascades to write my bb10 application.
You can check out my session 313 - Bringing your BlackBerry Java Apps to BlackBerry 10 - from BB Jam in Amsterdam after it was made publicly available.

Re: Blackberry OS 10 Development

Thanks for reply ..

If android app worked in OS10 then why should any one make app in BB OS10 ,people make app in android and install it in BB 10,may be my Question is silly but I think  I am not wrong.

From where I get the guideline/documentation to start coding in OS 10.

Re: Blackberry OS 10 Development

" why should any one make app in BB OS10"

Because:

1) about 70% of the API is available

2) You won't get access to native functionality

3) It won't look at feel like a real BB10 app.

The place to start for everything is

Re: Blackberry OS 10 Development

in addition, there is no android runtime in the corporate perimeter, so your app would never be able to be a corporate app if it is done in android.

if you plan to publish an app for android anyhow you can think about it, but then you could as well use html5 and go all portable.

Re: Blackberry OS 10 Development

Hi,

Sorry for asking silly Questions.

Can you give link that for which API you are talking about, that 70% API is available ?

I do not have any idea that for which API you are talking ?

Thanks,

Start here:

https://developer.blackberry.com/

Click on Android Runtime.  Then the "API" Header.  To see what is not supported click on either BB10 or PlayBook on the left handside.  That will tell you what is not supported on each platform.
