Java Development

Connect the JDE to a specified simulator bundle

Summary


This article applies to the BlackBerry® Java™ Development Environment (JDE).




Procedure


Connect the integrated development environment (IDE) to a specified simulator bundle.


Note: You cannot make changes to the DefaultSimulator profile. Either modify an existing profile or create a new profile for this purpose.


1. Create a new directory under the BlackBerry JDE installation directory. For example, C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.0\new simulator
2.Unzip the contents of the simulator bundle in this directory.
3. In the RIM® IDE, click Edit > Preferences > Simulator > Advanced to open the dialog.
4.Adjust the following parameters:

User Application


  • Jvm.dll

Working Director


  • C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.0\new simulator

    Command Line

  • C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.0\new simulator\fledge.exe" /session=7290 /app-param=JvmAlxConfigFile:7290.xml /pin=0x2100000A /data-port=0x4d44 /data-port=0x4d4e /app-param=DisableRegistration /app=Jvm.dll /handheld=7290

    5. In the RIM IDE, click EditPreferences > Debug > Other to open the dialog.

    6. Adjust the following parameter:

    Handheld Debug File Location
  • C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.0\new simulator
  Note: The instructions above will work with BlackBerry Device Simulator 3.8 and 4.0 with BlackBerry JDE 4.0.
