Curve 8320. Upgrading to access camera

Hi all,

First question: I have a BlackBerry Curve 8320 (v 4.5). is it possible to upgrade it to 4.6 version?

Second question: I have read that it is impossible to do Manager.createPlayer("capture://video"); to capture camera images until 4.6 version. Is it certain? Do it implies that i cannot capture images programatically with my Curve 8330?

Thanks in advance,

Joterito

Re your second question, I understand that you can listen for the file being added and process accordingly.  Have a look at the FileExplorerDemo.

Re: Curve 8320. Upgrading to access camera

4.6 is available for the 8900 and 9000. the older 8xxx devices can usually be upgraded to 4.5.
i doubt that there will be a newer version available for them.

OS 4.5 is the latest for your device.

Re: Curve 8320. Upgrading to access camera

Thanks! This means I should go for blackberry bold or pearl because I could not upgrade 8310 to 4.6. I hope my jde4.6 app runs on bb devices supporting 4.6 and above. As I learnt just now that I can upgrade 8310 to 4.5 then is it possible to run my 4.6 app code on 4.5? I mean- Is it compatible? If this is possible then I would not go for another handset. Another question : My app uses camera(sample code) module. And is that true that camera functionality could not be programmatically implemented on and below 4.6? Will that run on the actual handset, though its running fine on the emulator. Thanks!
