Debugging on a live device

Hello all,

I have been trying to connect the jde to my blackberry device in order to debug an exception i am getting in the device but the 'Debug-Attach to->handheld option' wont show the device's pin although the device is connected via the usb cable and is detected by the blackberry device manager. Following are some specfics about the scenerio:

1.  Device: 8900 running 4.6.1.114 o/s.

2. JDE used for debugging - 4.6.1.23

3. JDE used for building the app 4.2.1.14 ( i have tried using this JDE too for debugging the app with no luck)

4.  Desktop/Device manager (5.0.1.18) - the latest available in the official blackberry site

The exception is not replicated in other devices/in any simulator so i really need to get this debugging working. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Debugging on a live device

I have solved the problem.

For anyone having a similar issue in future, you need to have the same desktop software version as th the o/s version installed in the device for the device debugging to work.

So, installing the device/desktop software 4.6 did the trick for me.

Re: Debugging on a live device

We've got some devices which are V4.6, Some V4.7, and 5.0. Does this mean that we have to uninstall then reinstall the desktop software when we want to debug on a different device?

Re: Debugging on a live device

No it does not.  I suspect something else was causing OP's issue.
