Thanks for the heads up, I fixed the link.
There is no press release about this yet. I'm not sure when/if that's scheduled. I'll try and find out.
If/when we do, it'll show up here: http://www.rim.com/newsroom/

Just some words of advice;
1) Get a press release out quickly, think hours not days/weeks
2) Explain in simple terms that if Carrier IQ is on your Blackberry it did not come from RIM
3) Explain in simple terms that if someone else loaded it, you can see it because RIM gets security (wink wink)
4) Explain in simple terms how to look for it.
5) Explain in simple terms how to remove it if you find it.
Then we can all smugly sit back and watch the screaming about Carrier IQ being hidden spyware/root kit on Android instead of being falsely dragged through the mud.

For anyone interested, here is a list of all net.rim.device and net.rim.blackberry references in the IQAgent app:

Interesting dump, I am not a real mobile developer but looking quickly through the method calls they are almost all radio related. I wonder if the BB version of their app is less invasive and doesn't contain keylogging etc

On BlackBerry, third party applications can only capture keystrokes when they are in the foreground (their screen is shown).
A press release regarding this is being worked on and I have passed along the feedback from this thread.

Thank you for the clarification, now can RIM provide steps by steps policy settings for us Admins to either block this or remove such from devices that may have it.Also can we pull a report that can find this app on our current users.
