Windows is a fine example of what NOT to do when coding an OS. I'm not even going to start in on the registry... I should point out that I'm all for open source, but there are some security issues that must be taken into account. RIM is liable for all of their devices, and I don't blame them for the steps they've taken.

Open source and security are certainly not incompatible.

I think that the ability to inherit permissions will never be granted for the simple fact that you dont realy know what a program is doing until its already done it. If this were allowed it would be easy to grant full access to some simple app that in turn installs another app to do whatever it wants (like constantly reboot your phone). I think app installed apps should be the same as user installed apps and request their own permissions.

Granted, but some of the changes he's suggesting are severely counter-intuitive in the latter, if you ask me.
