We have a situation where we needed to perform a hard reboot programatically. We followed the steps here:
We were able to implement that solution successfully. The user is presented with a dialog that says "reboot now" or "reboot later." If selecting "reboot now," a hard reset is performed and you see the progress bar slowly move on boot up. If you select "restart later," it tells you to reboot by holding down the power button resulting in a soft reset (without the progress bar).
Some questiosn for solutions in order of preference:
1) Is there some flag or someway to force the next reboot to be a hard reset?
2) Can we disable teh instructiosn to reboot by holding down the power button and to display instructions that say "Reboot by alt+shift+del"
3) Can we disable or remove the "Reboot Later" option?
