GPS default frequency??

Hello,

      i am using gps location for tracking .. can anyone tell me,, that what is the default gps frequency ..?? if we don't set any ??

and i m using a thread which sleeps for 3 minutes and then it should find location... but it is giving me location within every minute...

and related methods?
