You can do this if you connect the BlackBerry Simulator to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server. The steps to do so are found here.

Other than connecting to a BES server, are there any other options?
Is it possible to configure ESS to deliver HTML email to the emulator?
I am having difficulty of connecting the emulator to BES server by following this KB article, as I don't see the "YES" in step 6 and cannot move forward. I am using Desktop manager 4.6.0

The ESS does not support HTML email, connecting the BlackBerry Simulator to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server is the only option
What version of BlackBerry Simulator are you using? Do you see any activity in Desktop Manager after you enable USB simulation?

I was using the Bold simulator. After turning off wireless connection, and select "simulate -> USB cable connected" in the simulator, desktop manager changed to "connected", with no other changes.

I found the problem: My desktop manager was not properly configured. After I fixed it, the simulator can receive email from BES server now.
However, all the emails still come in as plain text, even those emails which should have HTML format.
Simulator: 8800 (OS 220.127.116.11)
BES server: 18.104.22.168
According to this, now the problem comes from our older BES server.
