Folks, be gentle please. First time poster here. ![]()
Need some help getting ESS setup correctly. I have MDS setup and working like a champ. Have even installed Google Maps and I am good to go there. I can not connect to ESS through standalone or connected mode. In standalone it constantly tells me waiting on client. I get a ton of error messages in Connected mode. Anybody that can help me with some basic troubleshooting out there?

I have referred the following thread and now I can able to send email from Simulator to Outlook and vice versa
Hope this helps you people.

I have consistently been experiencing the same problem. I am assuming this thread is still open, too...?
The output I have is:

And then I load up the simulator (I'm using the 8900), but I do not get the expected connected messages.
I try to send emails (I have the ESS set up in Standalone mode) and I see the following messages:
<Tue May 12 12:32:41 BST 2009>: [24] :<DEBUG>:<LAYER = UDP, EVENT = Sending, SIZ
E = 206, SOURCE = , DESTINATION = ?:?>
I believe it should say "DESTINATION = localhost". No email appears on the Blackberry simulator device.
I am using Windows Vista. I have disabled my firewall and virus scanner.
It appears that other people on this forum have been experiencing similar problems, but I have found no solution that fits my problem.
Are there other potential conflicts that cause the BlackBerry simulator to be unable to communicate with the Email Simulation Server?
Thanks

This response has nothing to do with the nature of the problem being discussed.
The problem is the simulator being unable to communicate with the Email Simulation Server.
I have had no problems sending email to the standalone server using my email client (Thunderbird), but because the Simulator doesn't connect to ESS these emails are not appearing on the device.

I've just been fooling around with this a bit. Basically -- in my experience so far -- eMails wil only get to the ESS IF MDS is not running.
I can reproduce this 100%. Other than that, the general setup instructoins work perfectly.
Will this be addressed or is there a workaround to make them peacefully co-exist?
Cheers,
