How to access a database?

Hello, my blackberry is on a corporate network and can access pretty any resources by either IP or name.

I'd like to display some information from our SQL Server database.

Is there an article or something about how to connect to a SQL Server database (and run queries against it) from the blackberry?

Thanks.

Re: How to access a database?

Unless you find a JBDC driver that can run on a blackberry or that you implement yourself all the protocol details of your database you can forget that road. I would suggest though that you write a simple servlet (or any other apps) that you would access from your blackberry and execute the query against it. A webservice type of thing.

Re: How to access a database?

I know there is a JDBC driver for SQL Server, but how does one know whether it works on the BlackBerry or not?  Besides, are the JDBC APIs accessible on the BlackBerry?

Thanks.

Re: How to access a database?

There are no jdbc drivers for the BlackBerry.  As the above person mentioned, you will have to write a web application or servlet to connect the BlackBerry application and the database.

Re: How to access a database?

That's weak.  How's blackberry supposed to compete with Windows Mobile, IPhone and the Androids of this world, if it can't do something so basic?

Thanks to all.

Re: How to access a database?

You can connect directly to a database using a BlackBerry MDS Runtime Application created in MDS Studio.

Direct database connectivity is not supported from a Java application.
