How to detect Storm browser?

With the browser identification on the phone set to Internet Explorer or Firefox, the UserAgent string does not give me any information that this device is mobile or even a blackberry. How else can I detect?

UserAgent with id set to Internet Explorer

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)

Set to Firefox

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14

Re: How to detect Storm browser?

The profile may be available but the easiest thing to do is set up your own server and hit it and see what you get.

AFAIK there is no point in spoofing a profile header except for testing.

Re: How to detect Storm browser?

Those UserAgent strings are what our web server returned from the Storm. Unlike the iphone or other mobile devices that provide keywords in the UserAgent string like Mobile.

Re: How to detect Storm browser?

Use the profile header- never been a problem AFAIK unless your browser doesn't issue it. Any phone app should

be using a profile header, using the UA for phone parameters isn't quite right as the screen doesn't change size when

the app is switched.

Re: How to detect Storm browser?

Sounds like you have conflicting requirements.

If the browser setting is Blackberry, you will get the model number in the user agent field (along with other device-specific info).

If it is set to one of these other browser types, it will emulate those browsers rather than report itself as a BlackBerry mobile browser.
