Re: How to install .jad file with Desktop manager

You can't, you need to convert the jar to a cod file and create an alx.  There are other posts and I believe a KB article that tell you how to convert a jar to a cod.

Hi Tej,

use the following KB to convert jar file to cod file

http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800738/800901/How_To_...

Re: How to install .jad file with Desktop manager

You could have found that link for yourself.

For example, if you search this board using the key words "jar" and "cod", you will find that the very first post in the list actually references the article zany has pointed you at.  In addition, if you had searched the KB with the keyword "jar" you will find the same article on the first page.  And if you  search the forum and KB yourself you will get the result faster and mean people like me and zany have more time to answer real questions.

So will you look for yourself next time?  Please.

Re: How to install .jad file with Desktop manager

Peter,

You spent more time flaming the guy than pointing him in the right direction.

If it really bugs you that much, then we need a FAQ:

i.e. "Hey Joe, please consider reading FAQ 101 next time.

It shows you how to search this area.  Thanks!"

You note how many posts I have - I do search first.

Re: How to install .jad file with Desktop manager

Hi,

In that link that was given, I was stumped at the first base - what is the Blackberry JDE please? Is there a link for installation? If it's an app, how can I get it without a BB dataplan please?

Re: How to install .jad file with Desktop manager

Well, that was a waste of time, looking for the JDE, etc. I thought I'd installed jad & jar files before, but couldn't remember how, so came here & found this thread....

Don't know about cod or cad files(??) but if you just copy the jad or jar files to your BB & then open them from there, Viola! they install no worries!
