Is UiApplication required to use drawFilledPath?

I want to fill 2d polygons in animations, so it has to be done fast. That is why I need to use the drawFilledPath method in the net.rim.device.api.ui.Graphics class.

I assume that my app has to extend from UiApplication instead of MIDlet for this to work? If it extends MIDlet, the  paint(Graphics g) with javax.microedition.lcdui.Graphics as argument is called instead of the  paint method with net.rim.device.api.ui.Graphics class as an argument.

I assume that the app has to extend UiApplication to get access to net.rim.device.api.ui.Graphics and paint with it? Or is it possible to do this if the app extends MIDlet?
