Is this app using java application or web application?

I found this app , tcktcktck, (from bb app store), which UI is kind of weird to me, I think it is not using java application, feels like web development, but usually web app should be like ..we click icon, and then it open browser and requesting the content. But this one is not...

Does anyone know what kind of app is it?

Thanks.

Re: Is this app using java application or web application?

It looks like web development style, which means it based on browser, but how come I didn't see processing bar in the bottom of each screen or page?

Are you running OS 5.0? If so it might be a Widget (don't remember if they are on App World or not), otherwise it is probably a Java App.

Then it's most likely a Java application because Widgets are supported on 5.0 and up, meaning if you aren't in the web browser on 4.6 then it's a Java application.

I tried it on 4.6 also, and was surprised becuase it uses the new Browser (with a pointer), which I did not think was available until 5.0.

Re: Is this app using java application or web application?

Widgets work on versions < 5.0? I couldn't find anything that said what versions were supported except for 5.0.

Interesting, how do you know it's the new browser?

Re: Is this app using java application or web application?

since it should be widget, it should be java application? it really does not look like java application style.

Re: Is this app using java application or web application?

Some simple examination of the JAR file that's accessible on their site (unzip and use the strings utility) reveals it's using Nitobi PhoneGap (http://www.nitobi.com/products/phonegap/) with static content through a BrowserContent field. So, it's doing both.
