Monitoring web browsing/ browsing history

Hello,

is there a way to monitor the use of the web browser? Can i programmtically access the browsing history?

Or are there any system events listeners i can use to get notified when the user goes to a URL?

Thank you,

No, there are no APIs to listen for browser events or to access the browser history.

Re: Monitoring web browsing/ browsing history

thanks for the reply Mark, I kind of was afraid to hear this. are there any workarounds possible? If i start the browser within my app using a browser field would that be  possible? (given that the user starts web browsing by going through my application) Or would i lose control over it once started ?

best regards,

Re: Monitoring web browsing/ browsing history

You could do this with a BrowserField.  Have a look at the BrowserFieldDemo included with the BlackBerry JDE and refer to the eventOccurred method.  You can get the destination URL from the Event passed in with this method.

Re: Monitoring web browsing/ browsing history

My question is for Mr MSohm. Sir, I am developing an application that needs to listen to the "Go" button press of a web browser when a user targets a particular url. I want to collect all the urls hit by the user into an application that would run for me in the background. As u say, there is no programmatic support or APIs supporting this. Could you please send me the the required links that satisfy this claim. I would really appreciate that. Thanks in advance.

Re: Monitoring web browsing/ browsing history

Hi MSohm,

I am opening one URL from my app and there should not be any History, Cache or Cookie in the Browser Histroy for Privacy purpose. Please suggest me a solution for this.

Thanks in Adv.

Ankur
