Multipart messages appear differently in BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Internet Service

Description


Multipart email messages sent to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server™ and BlackBerry Internet Service™ message users can appear differently when viewed on the BlackBerry wireless device. If the message contains both a text/plain section and a text/html section, the contents shown to the user will vary depending on the service they are using. The following is an example of a multipart message:



Content-Type: multipart/alternative; 
boundary="----_=_NextPart_001_01C59DDA.3B2A2EC3"
Subject: Sample Message
Date: Wed, 10 Aug 2005 14:35:07 -0400
From: "Sender" <sender@sender_domain_name.com>
To: <recipient@recipient_domain_name.com>

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Content-Type: text/plain;

For device users on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the body of this message will be "This is an html message.". When multiple parts are available, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server will use the text/html part as its default.


For BlackBerry Internet Service message users, the body of this message will be "This is a text message.". When multiple parts are available, BlackBerry Internet Service message will use text/plain as its default.
