My Program suddenly Restarts my Blackberry

[ Edited ]

I am writing a game for my Blackberry 8300, and my phone suddenly restarts at any moment while the game is running. I have the slightest idea about what is causing this problem, and the game works perfectly when I run it in the simulated environment.

I have wrote many games for the XBOX 360 and the PC. I thought this simple game would be anything but straining on resources, but it is indeed an entire new world developing for this Cell Phone o_0

Can anyone offer me some advice on what the problem may be?

Re: My Program suddenly Restarts my Blackberry

Have a look at the event log of the BlackBerry smartphone for a hint as to what may be causing the issue.  You can access the event log using either method.

  1. While on the home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone hold down the Alt key and press LGLG.
  2. Use the javaloader command line tool (located in the bin directory under your BlackBerry JDE / BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse directory) with the following command:

     javaloader -u eventlog > mylog.txt

Re: My Program suddenly Restarts my Blackberry

I accessed the event log using the first approach you suggested, and I am not seeing anything that could point to the problem( unless I do not know how to recognize the issue). I did see a message under the name of my program that stated: (4412) no sig from 0x33

No sig from 0x33 is normal to see.

What are the last messages that appear before the BlackBerry smartphone restarts?

Re: My Program suddenly Restarts my Blackberry

I had to scan through a huge list of data that may have been logged during the start up process, but here are some of the logs before the blackberry restarted.

a System- VM:600001 gc=0 idle=0 native=net.rim.device.api.ui.Graphics.UpdateDisplay0
a System - CMM: MyProgramName(4412)no sig from 0x33
a System - CMM: MyProgramName(4412)no sig from 0x33
a BBM-RXCd 0x82ac8a61
a net.rim.ippp- RXCd 14079

Re: My Program suddenly Restarts my Blackberry

There isn't anything helpful in that log.  I recommend adding some logging within your application to help narrow down what line(s) of code are triggering the reset.
