I just started trying to get familiar with development on the Blackberry. It seems
easy enough to use the standard controls, but is getting frustrating when I try to
paint the screen exclusively from the Graphics object.
My test program extends from MainScreen. The screen has a background
and moving objects, but flickers (at least in the Blackberry JDE 4.7).
The flicker is reduced most when I work with the Graphics object
directly. If I write to a buffer Bitmap object, then drawBitmap back to the
main screens Graphics object, the flicker is ridiculous.
I've seen other threads where people said to use MIDlets, or extend from BlackBerryCanvas or GameCanvas.
Trying any of those seems to be making everything more difficult that it should be.
Is there a single best way to make a game screen?
Any pointers, guidance, links, samples, ... would be greatly appreciated.
