I need to open Image Selector from my Application like the way Blackberry "Contacts" provides in Add Picture while working with contact.
Also gtalk & facebook application provides same thumbnail image selector.
I have spent lot of time in searching different forums but not getting exact solution.
Appreciate any help in this direction.
NOTE: I have to support all OS > 4.2.0.

Merging these two samples should get you close.
Display Thumbnails and create a Photo Picker
Create a file selection popup screen

Does any one have a solution to this that performs well with large number of graphic files?
Any code I have used basically is unusable due to it consuming far to much time processessing images.
I have attempted to use BBThumbs.dat as a possible solution its far far slower that any Rim delivered image selector.
I need an image selector that will perform as well as the Rim delevered image pickers with a few hundred or so 5mp sized images.

What BlackBerry Smartphone model and BlackBerry device software version are you testing on? You can find this under Options, About on the BlackBerry Smartphone.

Before diving into any more development on the Blackberry, has ANYONE been able to successfully recreate the Contacts "Add Picture" dialog successfully? It appears that many posters here have attempted this feature, but all posters (unless someone can confirm) seem to indicate that even using the BBThumbs.dat method, the code runs too slowly on the actual device.
Can anyone confirm that the 2 articles that Mark has posted will work (on the actual device and fast enough) if implemented correctly?
P.S. I am a bit curious how the Facebook app is able to display the exact Thumbnail File Browser as the built-in Blackberry Contacts "Add Picture" function. Is there an undocumented direct API? If so, what would it take to get more information? ;-)
