Open tunnel - failure exception

Hi,

When I'm trying to open http connection Connector.open(url)

I'm getting Open tunnel - failure exception in all vodafone UK Blackberry 4.2 devices.

Although, everything works fine in others careers.

Anybody knows what is the problem?

Re: Open tunnel - failure exception

Check the APN settings (Options/Advanced Options/TCP) for direct TCP connection.

Re: Open tunnel - failure exception

Note that you can also specify the APN and username/password information directly in the URL you pass into your Connector.open() call.

Re: Open tunnel - failure exception

What happens if the user leaves his home carrier and joins another mobile network?

IMHO hard coding connection parameters is a bad idea...

The settings you need for Vodaphone UK are as follows:

APN: internet

Name: web

Password: web

Re: Open tunnel - failure exception

Exactly, what if they then leave that location, it can be too brittle.

We had to implement a triage of connection testing, which meant all communication goes to an offline queueing mechanism that runs in the background, tracks statistics on attempts, then ultimately reconfigure until a working path is found.

This is the only way we have found to have an almost bulletproof solution in terms of reliable connections.
