I have an app that plays video in full screen. Is it possible, while the video is playing, overlay a text/image field on top of the video? The video should not stop when the overlay is put in place.

same question here ....
Iam new at Blackberry Development and Iam Developing with Eclipse and Blackberry JDE 5.0 for Storm 9500. Is it possible to put Buttons over the Cameraview ? Anything i read about this says no or maybe possible, but on the Blackberry Storm 9500 Camera there are Buttons above the Camera Screen.
Is there an chance to do this like there ?

As of now, no. RIM has said that the built in apps are built with non-public APIs and have access to things that the public API does not. Kind-of obvious but still a pain in the butt.

that is the standard answer from RIM. anything that is not published it is considered private api.
I just wish rim would open up more apis. this is why developers are running away.

I still blame the JSR groups because they don't require that everything be implemented. So a company like RIM can add a whole JSR, implement only one or two classes and the rest is left for us developers to complain about.

Never mind the fact that almost everyone and their dog has their own JSR implementations which give wildly different results. There is so much "room" for implementation...

The other problem is Nokia, many good JSRs can't be fully implemented (or even used) unless the company/group/individual gets a license/permission from Nokia.
