Yes if ALLOW_RESET_IDLE_TIMER is false then it is not possible to prevent the lock screen from showing. The thing is if you are just trying to prevent the backlight from going off there are better ways. Unfortunately I don't know how but there are other ways other then preventing the user from locking their device, you should make a new post to ask about that.
The other thing is I tried looking for how to set permissions at install time but can't seem to find anything. I would like to know this myself but don't need it immediately. That is another post that you should make.

Hi,
On my BB Storm DeviceInfo.canResetIdleTimer() returns false, even if there is no IT Policy, the application permissions are all set to allowed and my app is signed... Does anyone know why this happens?
Is there a way to get the value of the IT Policy ALLOW_RESET_IDLE_TIMER in Java?

It's a good habit to start a new post for any new questions.
