Re-usability of code signing keys

Hello,

I am developing thrid party application for Blackberry.

I am using paid API of blackberry in my application. I have read about the code signing process and its fees. Currently, I am doing testing of my application on Simulator.

My query is -

Once I complete the testing on simulator, I have to sign the code and deploy the application on Blackberry handheld.

Lets assume, I found defects in my application on blackberry device and I have fixed it in the code.
Do I need to sign the code again? Do I need to pay everytime 20$ fees for code signing?

Is same keys are re-usable?

If yes, then how many times I can re-use it for the same project/application?

Please help me.

Appreciate your quick reply.

Thanks,

Bhavesh

Re: Re-usability of code signing keys

welcome to the support forums!

the signing key is valid for nearly unlimited use and can be used for all applications you develop. it is a one time fee.

Re: Re-usability of code signing keys

Thanks Simon.

It means that I can use anyone's keys for my application to deploy on actual blackberry.

Why I need to buy the keys then?

Am I right?

Re: Re-usability of code signing keys

the keys are used to identify a developer. you agree to terms of usage when buying them.

if you find somebody else to sign your application for you this person is violating the terms of usage - and acting quite stupid, too. you, on the other side, would have no control over the application, and the other person could put own code into your program.

Re: Re-usability of code signing keys

Thanks a lot Simon for quick reply.

I got my answer. It's a one time fee for all applications I develop in my life time. :smileyhappy:
