Is there a limit on the number of Bluetooth pairings a device will support? I am assuming that this varies between OS versions and maybe platforms.

What happens when the maximum is reached and the a connection to a new device is attempted?

Is there a programatic way of removing a pairing?

i'm not quite sure, but afaik there is no way to remove a pairing programmatically, especially on older device firmware.

There currently is a limit of 20 paired Bluetooth devices.

Is there defined behaviour as to what happens when you try to pair with a new device when you already have 20 pairings?

I am not sure what the protocol is when your post is marked solved but the question is not fully resolved.

The pairing attempt will fail if there are already 20 devices paired.

Is their a document we can look at that state the limit (that question is so that in the future we have somewhere to look at as new OS release comes out. A spec like document)?

Hi,

Our company is currently developing a bluetooth device that will need to pair to a mobile phone (blackberry included) and communicate with the phone on a regular basis. The connection is short (only about 20 bytes of data sent) and then the device will dissconnect from the phone.

We will need to pair more than 20 devices to a single phone at one time (altough only one device will be communicating at once), and as far as I'm aware at the moment this is not possible because of the 20 device limit. Is there any way around this limit, or is it possible to have this limit changed?

Our product will require more than 20 devices paired to function properly, and this only seems to be a problem with the blackberry platform.
