Yes, this can be done by using the Player class of JSR 135.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but how can I get my hands on a BlackBerry 9000 simulator and 4.6 dev. environment?

The version 4.6 BlackBerry JDE and BlackBerry Bold 9000 simulator are not currently publicly available.  When they are, you can download them from our BlackBerry Developer Zone web site:  http://www.blackberrydeveloper.com
