SDK Installation, Windows login information, Password, -> Error Message.

As the title explains, I cannot install BlackBerry Sync Server SDK 4.1.2. due to an error message at step 3, installation info.

Saying: Please enter a valid password.

I use windows XP.

I'm the administrator and only user.

I had no windows password at the beginning.

Enter without password did not work.

Due to the error message, I created a password, restarted the computer, logged in to windows with my new password, started the installation, inserted the password at step 3, (windows login information, password), but it still doesn't work.

Is there something special to do?

Thanks for your help.

Re: SDK Installation, Windows login information, Password, -> Error Message.

Does your environment meet the requirements list?

Synchronization Server SDK system requirements
Important: Do not install the Synchronization Server SDK on a computer with a BlackBerry
Enterprise Server. Unstable connectors and applications can cause data loss.

• Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Service Pack 4 or Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
• Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2005 or Microsoft® Visual C++® 2005 Express Edition (download from
the Microsoft web site at http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/visualc/usingpsdk/)
• Intel® Pentium® III processor or compatible (800 MHz or higher)
• 512 MB RAM
• 500 MB available hard disk space
• Java® SDK Version 1.5 (download from the Sun Microsystems web site at http://java.sun.com/)
• BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1.2 or later (Required only if you intend to use the
ConnectorInstall utility to install a connector application)
• BlackBerry Device Simulator Package Version 4.2 or later, or the BlackBerry® Java® Development
Environment Version 4.2 or later
• BlackBerry® Email and MDS Services Simulator Package Version 4.1.2.17 or later

[ Edited ]

Yes, except:

Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3

No Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2005 or Microsoft® Visual C++® 2005 Express Edition

Preinstall Check works!

System Info:

Operating System: Windows XP Professional Edition Service Pack 3

No Previous installation of BlackBerry Sync Server SDK found.

Prerequisite Components Installation Information:

Microsoft XML 4.20.9818.0 detected.

Microsoft .Net version 1.1 detected.

But why do I get this message: Please enter a valid password ?

Re: SDK Installation, Windows login information, Password, -> Error Message.

What if you have no password in windows and when it asks you for password - you just click OK without entering password to the dialog ?

Have you tried password for your Outlook/Lotus Notes account if they are installed on your computer ?

Re: SDK Installation, Windows login information, Password, -> Error Message.

Can you post your installation log file?  It should be created in your Windows temporary directory.  The filename is semi-random, so I recommend sorting files based on creation date.

Does your environment have any requirements for strong passwords?

Re: SDK Installation, Windows login information, Password, -> Error Message.

I am facing the same problem. There is no log file, (Ideleted all temp files and ran the installer but no log file was created). I also changed my password from "tqtqn007" to "This3isa2Strong1Password" (Stronger than the earlier).

But unfortunately, the same merror message "Please enter a valid password".

Re: SDK Installation, Windows login information, Password, -> Error Message.

The installer does create an SQL instance and specifies an sa password.  Does your environment force strong passwords?  If so, this could be causing the password used by the installer to fail.
