I'm new to this forum, and have joined to possibly answer this question.
I'm a computer forensics student studying at leeds met and I am doing a paper on investigating the BlackBerry. I have read methodologies on the internet that suggest using BlackBerry Desktop Manager to create a backup of the device and then use a program called ABC Amber converter to look at the backup.
Obviously the investigator will need to know the password to backup the BlackBerry. This can be acquired with a court ordered request.
I have also read that you can use a SDK to create a bit by bit image of the BlackBerry, but so far I have not successfully done it.
