Scannig EAN-13 Barcode

Hi, i have read this link.

It is working fine for QR code. But not for EAN-13.

I tried this also:

     formats.addElement(BarcodeFormat.EAN_13);

adding EAN_13 format to the format.

But this is not working.

Re: Scannig EAN-13 Barcode

Hello Noopesh,

How are you doing?

What device are you running the Barcode scanning app on for which you are encountering issues?

From my experience 1D codes need a device that has an autofocus camera. devices running an EDOF camera, do not seem capable of scanning a 1D barcode.

Looking forward to your reply.

Sincerely

Re: Scannig EAN-13 Barcode

Thanks rmasroor for your reply.

I am doing bar code scanning on Torch 9800 .
But now its solved(the same code is running). However the scanning is only possible in landscape mode for 1-D bar codes, not in the portrait mode.

But next is another issue. Now i want to decode that string to actual data i.e. to which product it refers?

Like i have 5901234123457(Wikipedia EAN-13 image's output) as the result after decoding that EAN-13 code. But now can i use this code much further(like to which country it belongs, product name and more info).

Is it possible in BB ?

Re: Scannig EAN-13 Barcode

Hey noopesh,

In regards to your issue about taking the code much further to match the code to a country, and product it really depends on the context of your application. There isn't anything BlackBerry specific. You will need to create an interface to interpret the strings and correlate it to a database to extract the kind of products and country of origin the barcode is associate with.

Let me know if I have answered your questions and I will be more than happy to follow it up with you.

Sincerely,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, this is true that we want to implement the interface, But is there any code sample to do the same.
