Setting -source option for a JDE build

How does one set the -source compiler option in the JDE. I would like to use Java 1.5 but it is apparently defaulting to 1.3. I don't see anywhere in the JDE to change this option.

Re: Setting -source option for a JDE build

The BlackBerry JDE/BlackBerry JDE Plug-in for Eclipse does not support 1.5, 1.3 must be used.

Re: Setting -source option for a JDE build

Not sure what he's talking about when he says "plug-in", but if you are using Ganymede, and you installed the full JDE (not the components), then you can do this:

From the main menu select Windows -> Preferences

Expand "Java"

Click "Compiler"

Select your desired compiler compliance level

Be sure that the OS you are targeting supports the level you select.  There is a page in the knowledge base that gives you the compliance levels supported by OS version.

Works great for us, using Ant for build control, and mercurial for source control.

Re: Setting -source option for a JDE build

You need 1.3 source compatibility and 1.1 binary compatibility.  There's no practical reason to change source compat to anything other than 1.3.  Doing so will only cause you pain at some point.

Exactly why I love this forum : find exactly the question I was asking myself :-)
