Storm Assisted mode is not working on Verizon Wireless

Hi guys.

I've faced a problem related GPS.

And I am using assisted mode by following code :

Criteria criteria = new Criteria();
criteria.setHorizontalAccuracy(Criteria.NO_REQUIREMENT);
criteria.setVerticalAccuracy(Criteria.NO_REQUIREMENT);
criteria.setCostAllowed(true);
criteria.setPreferredPowerConsumption(Criteria.POWER_USAGE_MEDIUM);

What is wrong here ?

Do you have a suggestion ?

Thanks guys.

Re: Storm Assisted mode is not working on Verizon Wireless

If I remember correctly you need to have an approved application from Verizon in order to use the Assisted GPS. The only GPS available for the Storm is the "real" satellite GPS. Otherwise your code looks fine.

Re: Storm Assisted mode is not working on Verizon Wireless

Thanks.

So, I have a question.

What is "real" satellite GPS you said ?

Otherwise do I need to make a default Listener ?

I mean instead of Criteria "null"

Thanks in advance.

[ Edited ]

Sorry about the "real" GPS thing, I couldn't find the right word. If you look in BlackBerry Java Development Environment GPS & BlackBerry Maps (http://na.blackberry.com/eng/deliverables/8105/BlackBerry_Java_Development_Environment-4.7.0-US.pdf) it talks about the three types of GPS: Cell Site, Assisted, and Autonomous. The "real" GPS I was talking about is the Autonomous GPS.

Based on the code you posted you are trying to use Assisted GPS. This uses PDE servers that Verizon has, unfortunately you need to contact Verizon in order to use this. I don't know if you need to do this for the Cell Site GPS but I know you don't need to do it for the Autonomous GPS.

If you really want to use the Assisted GPS and don't want to contact Verizon I found this link: http://forums.pinstack.com/blog.php?b=1333 but you could get in trouble doing this so I wouldn't recommend it.
