Urgent:Is It Possible to do Alarm Application in Java?

Hi,

I am currently trying to develope a application in Black berry using java.

I'm new to BB with JDE.

Following are my requirements for the BB application:

1. Is it possible to do customised reminder application in java JDE4.6?

2. How to play sound files in BB using Java coding?

3. Is it possible to run the application background?

4. When my application is closed/device is switched off also i want the customised remainder to popup according to the time?

5. want to run the executable  file by setting time. Can this be achived?

6.The customised reminder fields must be stored seprately in local Database. Which database can be used for this process? and how can this be achived?

7. Is it possible to access a C#.Net  webservice in JDE for data processing?

can we achive the above  things using Eclipse or suggest any other SDK (simple and best)....

if any extra requirements is need for the following task pls suggest that....

suggest some useful links for developement and coding(since i'm new i need basic level coding)....

Re: Urgent:Is It Possible to do Alarm Application in Java?

1:
a) you can create an appointment with an alarm using
eventList = (EventList) PIM.getInstance().openPIMList(PIM.EVENT_LIST, PIM.READ_WRITE);
BlackBerryEvent event = (BlackBerryEvent) eventList.createEvent();
see the developers guide for more details or look up the classes in the API.
b) you can start an application using push registry, see http://developers.sun.com/mobility/midp/articles/pushreg/

2:
you can use player to play sound files.
InputStream inStream = getClass().getResourceAsStream("/alarm.mid");
Player player = javax.microedition.media.Manager.createPlayer(inStream, "audio/midi");
player.realize();
player.prefetch();
player.start();

3:
if an application runs automatically and in the background is controled by flags.
you can easily set them in the project properties in the JDE.

4:
you can listen to system events like the device switching off and show some custom dialiog. not tested though, just an idea.

5:
not clear what you mean. if you want to execute your application at a certain time see push registry

6:
for simple data the persistant store can be used. if you want a real database there are several implementations available from 3rd party vendors.

7:
yes. the newer jde versions support webservices by JSR but most commonly ksoap2 is used.
here are some good examples:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/developer-forum/140930-blackberry-jde-ksoap-noobs.html

eclipse:
i use eclipse for coding and code checking/maintenance while i compile in the jde. for bigger projects i use an ant task to compile/simulate.

sunkarcj - I think you are hijacking someone else's thread.  If you have an unrelated question, start a new thread.  I also suggest you use the Search to find information (for example, on Eclipse, Buttons, Textboxs and images), and look at the other resources available at

www.blackberry.com/developers

You will find the Developer Guide and Javadocs invaluable too.

Regarding starting out with Java on BB, check the following thread.
