You could set the Event Log level to Debug, then Clear the Event Log, establish a connection, then get the Event Log and look for net.rim.tunnel entries -- these tell through which APNs tunnels were established. On Vodafone UK you'd typically want to use the "internet" APN for Direct TCP/UDP, whereas when the WAP 2.0 TCP transport kicks in, it does via the "wap.vodafone.co.uk" APN.
