Now that the OS 5.0 JDE Beta is out, I am wondering when I'll be able to start using it. The question for me is which devices will be upgradeable to OS 5.0? I'm mainly interested in the enterprise space (upgrade via BES?), but consumer space (upgrades through carriers?) is also of interest.
I haven't seen any statements about upgradeability. Have I missed them?

JDE 5.0 contains simulators for Bold (9000) and Pearl Flip 8220.
So, these devices will be upgradeable.
Also RIM API 5.0 supports touchscreen, then Storm devices also will be upgradeable.

I believe that devices from 8700 to the later Pearls are upgradeable to 4.5 This includes:
8700,
all 81xx Pearls
88xx
83xx
As far as I am aware, there is no 4.6 or later support for these devices.
4.6 and later devices include:
8220 Flip
Bold
Storm
8900 Curve
Hope this helps

Thanks Peter - that fits with at least one part of what I recall. The most likely scenario would seem to be that 4.6 and later devices will be upgradeable to 5.0, but that 4.5 and earlier ones are not.
Guess time will tell whether that's accurate.

Is there simulator 5.0 for Storm?
If there is where can be found?

I think this KB article suggests that anything 4.6 or later will go to 5.0. It certainly says anything before 4.5 stops at 4.5....
