Hi!,
I've installed Jave, Eclispse, JDE Plugin and a version of the JDE. The "writing your first application" resource asks me to open Eclipse. I don't get the same initial screen so I'm not sure how to get to a "workspace". When I click on File/New/Project I don't get offered a Blackberry project. If on the other hand I click on ide.bat in the blackberry directory I also don't get offered a blackberry project.
Has my installation messed up somehow? Or am I doing something fundamentally wrong.
"Use Jave to quickly write BlackBerry applications"...

Have you tried to select File ---> New ---> Other...
Under this menu you should see Blackberry Project.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply!
No, I don't have an "other" tab.I have General, CVS, Java and Examples? This is starting Eclipse itself. Is that correct?

...and nor do I see a BlackBerry project under file/New/other

Welcome!
What steps did you use when you installed Java, Eclipse then the Java Plug-in?
Which approach did you take? Did you use the installer or did you use the update site to install the plug-in?
Are you running on Windows? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

Java I downloaded from Sun's site then executed the exe.
Eclispse I downloaded then unzipped the .zip
The plugin and JDE I downloaded from the Blackberry site
I was doing a "cold" install so I assumed an update wouldn't work
32-bit windows, Vista

When you download the plugin, it prompts you to select a location to extract the folder to. If you select a folder that already has an extracted Eclipse install, it'll install the Eclipse plug-in to it.
If you do not select the Eclipse folder, a new Eclipse install is created at the default folder specified on install or one you select.

sorry for long delay. I'm attempting to reinstall the plugin and JDE. I've de-installed the JDE (no sign of plugin to de-install!).
Installing plugin it says "requires an account with admin priviledges". Does it mean an account with admin priviledges or will entering the admin password do? I don't want to do development in my admin account.
Is there an easy way to check for a previous plugin installation (eg. look for a file in my eclipse directory)
