I ran the clean.bat; it scrolled through a lot of changing xyz type statements and then ended happily. Same results when I launched the 4.5.0 simulator.bat.
I'm on Windows Vista Ultimate, IBM Thinkpad T60. 2GB RAM / 32 bit OS. I don't know if it's relevant, but in my program files/java folder, I have jdk1.5.0_16, jre1.5.0_16, and jre1.6.0_05.
I'm up to date on Windows patches, and had also installed the Visual Studio plugin, although I'll be doing my development in Java so I don't really need it.

I was having the same problem until I turned off User Account Control in Vista.

I had the same problem when migrating from JDE 4.3.0 to 4.5.0. Every time I started the simulator it crashed immediately. Turning off UAC was a great suggestion as this worked for me. However, I prefer to have UAC turned on. Then I found another simple workaround. Instead of installing the JDE into the default programs folder I've installed it into my Documents folder.

I ended up talking to BB support: very fast and actually seemed to care about the issue.
I did a re-install and everything worked. Then I re-imaged my machine, and re-installed everything. BB simulator crashed again. I disabled UAC, and it worked fine. I'll try the documents folder thing next time around. Thanks everyone!

I've had the same problems and have stepped through all of the potential solutions posted here:
o UAC deactivated
o ran the clean script
o tried running the actual apps (instead of the indirect calling from the debug environment)
I have the same errors as listed at the start of this thread (ie 'fledge.exe...' etc). My OS is Vista Business w/ all the current updates. Are there any other fixes to this issue out there?
Thanks,
John

Please not that you'll need to re-install after UAC has been disabled. Just turing it off may not fix the issue.
Another work around is to install to a directory other than the Program Files folder. This can fix the issue without disabling UAC.
