Edit QML and JavaScript code without having to build or deploy the app again

Problem

While creating a Cascades™ app you often you want to change some QML or JavaScript® code. Then you build & deploy to your device again just to see if it works. If you just made a small change, this costs a lot of time. I will show you how to change the QML and JavaScript on the device and then run it.

Workaround

  1. Connect your device as usual, build and deploy your app as usual.
  2. Open the QNX System Information perspective: perspective.png
  3. Go to the Target File System Navigator and find your app assets folder in: usb > System > apps > <yourApp> > native > assets find_file.png
  4. Go on Edit, now you can change the QML and JavaScript files. Just restart the app on the device and you will see the changes.

This makes it really fast to make small changes in your app without going through the whole build process. Enjoy.
