Re: BB10 Alpha Device not for Linux

The bug isn't that you need to install those libraries.  That's the easy part.  The bug is that the QML preview craps itself with some colorful console messages if you try to open it with the NVidia drivers installed.  (or causes Eclipse to completely die with some other video drivers/libraries).  In fact, it only seems to work with the non-proprietary slightly flaky open-source NVidia drivers that come with Ubuntu before it tries to install the ones made by NVidia.

If you just forgot those libraries, you'd get a popup with library errors.

Re: BB10 Alpha Device not for Linux

OK, I've understood. Actually I abandoned QNX Momentics and Cascades before trying QML preview :smileyhappy: Qt Creator with Qt Quick works great. BTW KDAB is actively working on blackberry plugin for Qt Creator, but I've not tested it yet.

Re: BB10 Alpha Device not for Linux

Wow!  At today, Qt Quick is more powerful than Cascades. Hopefully, Cascades sill move to Qt 5.0. We need canvas, please!!!!!

Re: BB10 Alpha Device not for Linux

Actually in some thread I was talking about reasons I had moved to Qt Quick. Stability and powerful features are the first in the list. Now I have some issues with hardware acceleration, will debug it on Monday. Also someone has said last (4.8.2) Qt built on your own brings better performance than one shipped with current firmware.

Re: BB10 Alpha Device not for Linux

I agree. I'm Qt developer scared by Stephen Elop mad day :Boat: , and IMHO, Cascades is very immatured comparing with Qt Quick or QtGui. No canvas, no QGraphicsScene, No QGraphicsItem... Imageview class very limited... Libimg very low level libs... Cascades need much more work.

Re: BB10 Alpha Device not for Linux

I really do not understand, why Cascades isn't just "BlackBerry 10/Cascades Components for Qt Quick". I haven't found yet anything in Cascades what cannot be done in pure Qt Quick.

Re: BB10 Alpha Device not for Linux

It's understanding. Perhaps, Nokia's legal issues? I don't know, but Cascades is very, very limited, IMHO.
