Camera flash on BB10 Dev Alpha hangs!!!

I tested the Camera API on BB10 Dev Alpha Device, whenever you select the FLASH on the camera it hangs, is this limited to my device alone or others?

Please test this feature on your camera and revert on the result.

Kind regards

Re: Camera flash on BB10 Dev Alpha hangs!!!

I thought I advertised this issue earlier, but maybe only via Twitter...

This issue affect Dev Alpha A running the latest 10.0.9 software only.

Dev Alpha B works fine.  On Dev Alpha A, please just disable the flash in the camera app.  On the next update, we will actually be forcefully disabling the flash on Dev Alpha A at the driver level -- you won't be able to use the flash on that particular hardware, but at least your device won't get hung.

Why don't we fix the flash, you ask?

If I recall, the problem stems from a common power management tuning that was applied to all BB10 platforms, but also required an update to a device-dependent component that is no longer being maintained by the vendor for Dev Alpha A.  Since the bulk of our testing activities are focused on launch BB10 hardware, this issue with the older Dev Alpha A device was missed.

Cheers,

Sean
