Cascades - do we need an extra Forum ?

Hi all,

Cascades will be the way to go for me to BB10.

Think it would be great to have an extra Forum for Cascades. There will be much traffic for Cascades I could imagine and would be good to separate from NDK-C/C++ questions.

what do you think ?

Yeah I agree.

Cascades does have its own microsite, too,  so having its own forum makes sense.

Re: Cascades - do we need an extra Forum ?

I don't think I agree, at least not yet.

I see Cascades as *the* primary way to do UIs for the native SDK. I can't really see the point of having it separate, at least until it's clear that sharing this forum for Cascades and non-Cascades development is really confusing people.

I agree with Peter.

Cascades, after all, is C++/qml and its for native development on the pb and bb10... so... Seems like a good fit for the Native development forum to me?

Cheers,

Jon

Re: Cascades - do we need an extra Forum ?

for me it would be good to have a forum specific for QtCore, QML, Cascades API because I want to go deep into this and use as less as C++ code

...where others are developing C/C++ apps and don't need anything from Cascades

I know: all belongs together, but BB10 will allow much much more possibilities then the "old" java, so it could be easier to have different forums

Re: Cascades - do we need an extra Forum ?

I agree with ekke. I want to use QML + JS more than C++, but some people use Cascvades with C++ more.

Re: Cascades - do we need an extra Forum ?

I also want to use more cascades and maybe Qt than c++, but at the moment i don't think that a split makes sense, both content- and traffic wise.
if you use cascades you will also have questions about native c++.

I can easily see two separate forums at some place in the future, but would prefer to have a single one for the time being.

Re: Cascades - do we need an extra Forum ?

I agree that we need a QML forum.  It makes sense because even the examples and the API is split into QML and C++ in many cases. So when i want to develop i can do it in C++ or in QML/Javascript or maybe a combination. So i would like to see a forum where all is about QML/Javascript in the fist place.

For now i am confused, what ist possible with QML/Javascript and when do i necessarily need C++. AFAIK Qt will ship someday with QML wrapper for everything so C++ is not necessary anymore. Is this the way for Cascades too? I have seen QML examples, where even SQLite-access is handled by javascript. So is this possible in Cascades too? These are specific QML questions and should be answered in an QML-forum.
