How to get the 'Peek' UI from the demo

Hi,

I'm new to the whole cascades, QML and its development, so, this might an odd question to start with.

I'm trying to achieve the 'peek ui' thats was demonstrated in the demo where 3 screens were stacked like

'message list' , 'message content' and the 'pdf document' in the  message and there was left gesture with the screens were getting revealed to some extent one after the other.

In my cascades application, i'm using a NavigationPane with 2 Pages

but when i try to do the same gesture,it doesnt happens.

Can someone please guide me to a link where i can find tutorial on it?

or if you can share the steps with which i can implement the same?

Thanks!

As far as I know this is currently not supported by any public API. I hope they'll make it available at some point...

Which question are you asking:

- How do I do gesture support?

or

- How do I best swap in a new view?

Cascades does not have gesture support yet.  However, look at the cowbell and "pull my beard" samples for detecting touch events.  See also the comment on gestures.h in http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Cascades-Development/BB10-User-Interface-and-horizontal-scrol...

For swapping views, see the discussion in this thread:

Re: How to get the 'Peek' UI from the demo

Sorry, but I think the question was quite clear. It was how to do what's on this picture: http://cdn3.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/BlackBerry10_glance2.jpg

The answer is: There is no framework support for that! Or is there?

Re: How to get the 'Peek' UI from the demo

The functionality you require is not currently supported. Unfortunately I do not have information regarding future features in the upcoming NDK releases. This is normally done through the offical RIM channels.

Please monitor official RIM developer channels for announcements related to upcoming releases.
The main developer page https://developer.blackberry.com/
and the twitter feed: http://twitter.com/BlackBerryDev
are two good places to monitor for new information.

I will also add that in BBJam NYC, the dev relations folks indicated that this functionality is planned in a future update, though they did not have a timeline.

It's just word-of-mouth though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Try out BBSSH, a free Blackberry SSH client.

Re: How to get the 'Peek' UI from the demo

Hi,

As pointed out in the previous posts, the peeking functionality is not available yet. We are still finetuning it. It won't make into the next Beta either (which is due very soon), but you should be able to get it in a beta by the end of the summer or early fall.

Cheers!

Anders
