Invoke Addressbook & Calendar Application

Hi,

It might be stupid, but I am unable to find how to invoke Contact and Calendar Application from my Application.

Re: Invoke Addressbook & Calendar Application

RIM hasn't published any useful docs (that I know of) describing the invoke targets for the system apps.  However, you can extract this info off a Dev Alpha.  Just ssh into the device, and do:

$ cat /pps/system/navigator/invokes/invoke.000 > invoke_targets.txt

You can then view that text file and see a list of all the currently available invoke targets, JSON-encoded.

As an example, here's one of the calendar target entries with some whitespace added for clarity:

sys.pim.calendar:json:{
    "entry_point_ref": "e1",
    "dname": "sys.pim.calendar.gYABgG0xvpxP1jARa6DD5o.VL8A",
    "install_order": 25,
    "filter": [
        "actions=bb.calendar.OPEN,
        bb.calendar.VIEW,
        bb.calendar.CREATE,
        bb.calendar.EDIT;
        types=text/calendar;"
    ],
    "type": "application",
    "transaction_id": 1
}

If you've read some of the invoke docs and examples, the contents of these entries should be fairly obvious.

Re: Invoke Addressbook & Calendar Application

We have a huge documentation update for the invocation framework that covers the required targets for RIM applications.  It should be online next week.

great news :smileyhappy:

additional idea (I just tweeted to @pelegri): would it be a good idea to have a page at BlackBerry Github Wiki to collecxt all the Target IDs ? not only RIM apps - then also 3rd party apps can add them there to make it easy for others to use them

That's something we're looking into.  First step is getting our target IDs out there.  :smileyhappy:

I have the same question. The Invoking Core Applications page is silent about the calendar.

I wrote a tutorial for invoking the calendar: http://bbcascadescode.tumblr.com/post/39391083442/new-calendar-year
