Massage box and overlay window in Cascades

I'm trying to find how message boxes and overlay windows should look in Cascades, but there's no such info neither in UI Guidelines nor in Cascades documentation and API.

Have I missed something? Thanks.

Re: Massage box and overlay window in Cascades

I would like to know this too. Any type of dialog, message or wizard box overlaying main window in Cascades? Waited for futures releases?

Thanks.

Re: Massage box and overlay window in Cascades

I've seen mentions of them in some of the UI guidelines, but no real details.  Best guess is that they're coming in a future drop of the APIs.

Re: Massage box and overlay window in Cascades

Hi guys,

I did a bit of investigating, and the only place the UI guidelines mention dialogs is for error display. For child or overlay windows it suggests using Sheets http://docs.blackberry.com/en/developers/deliverables/41577/sheets.jsp (which may be availble in a future NDK version ), and suggests sliding them in and out of the view as necessary.

For dialogs, you can use the system dialogs availble in the native NDK https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/native/reference/com.qnx.doc.bps.lib_ref/com.qnx.doc.bps.lib_ref...

it is capable of showing simple prompts, login boxes, file browsing and more.

But to answer your question directly there doesn't seem to be a way to create a dialog from Cascades proper at this time. Look for it in future NDK releases

Cheers

Selom

Selom, thank you.

Sad, we have no even mockups to comply future cascades UI guidelines and keep UI consistent through all apps for bb10 platform.

Re: Massage box and overlay window in Cascades

Woah. There's no way in Cascades currently to display Alert style boxes? That's really surprising.

Re: Massage box and overlay window in Cascades

This really surprises me. A good UI framework should also provide an API for something that is in the guidelines, like the Sheets or some simple Dialogs.
