Re: aldRe: QML Preview on Gold Release (Windows 8)

[ Edited ]

update: even if I create(manually) file c:\Temp\previewTest.qml - QNX IDE remove it (even with ReadOnly atrribute) and follow error appear.

for me it's a clear IDE error.

workaround

do not use TEMP directory, other then default (which is C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp for Win7)!

My computer is a "Mid 2011" Mac Mini running OSX 10.7.5, and its graphics adapter is Intel HD 3000. There are no driver updates available for this environment.

My laptop uses an Intel video device. I resolved the QML preview problem by updating my drivers.

Re: aldRe: QML Preview on Gold Release (Windows 8)

Hi,

I had the same problem (Using Windows Vista) and it appears that it had to do with the CASING of the folder name.

My windows temp folder (right click My Computer, Click Properties, Click Advanced Settings, Click Environment variables) showed a temp folder like %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp

however this folder was actually called temp (lower case) and Myuser folder had the same issue (%USERPROFILE translates to all Uppercase) . When trying to rename it, it failed because it was in use. So I created a new folder called C:\Temp\Myuser and changed the environment value above to exactly the same.

Note that Camel Case is important to be exactly matched.

Now log off and log on your PC, and it magically now passes the QML preview check!

Re: aldRe: QML Preview on Gold Release (Windows 8)

It seems extremely weird on my computer (Macbook Pro, latest Mac OS X).

In log file I see

!ENTRY com.rim.tad.tools.qml.simulator 1 0 2013-01-10 14:24:26.332
!MESSAGE /usr/bin/java -d32 -cp /Applications/bbndk/ide/macosx/x86/eclipse/plugins/com.rim.tad.tools.qml.simulator_10.0.9.201212070504/ com.rim.tad.tools.qml.sim.check.RenderingCheck -target /Applications/bbndk/target_10_0_9_1673/qnx6

!ENTRY com.rim.tad.tools.qml.simulator 4 0 2013-01-10 14:24:26.382
!MESSAGE QML Preview compatibility check log.
Error: This Java instance does not support a 32-bit JVM.
Please install the desired version.

As you can see java is executed with switch -d32 which means that it FORCES to use 32 bits.

RIM please fix as this is ugly bug.

Re: aldRe: QML Preview on Gold Release (Windows 8)

Ah ok. It most likely means that 32 JVM is required by QML preview but my Java can't provide it even when using -D32 switch.

Hmm...

Surprisingly this was working in previous version.

Re: aldRe: QML Preview on Gold Release (Windows 8)

Is qde ignoring the qde.ini file?
I tried setting -vm to Java 6 (on OS X Mountain Lion) but it just didn't use it :smileysad:
The design preview is really nice but useless if no one can use it because Java pre 7 is deprecated on OS X (and Java 7 doesn't support 32 bits, only 64!)
