Qt desktop app to BB10

I wanted to get some feedback from somone(s) who may have done this process.  How easy or difficult have you found it? Are there any particularly tricky tips?

Re: Qt desktop app to BB10

Hi MindOperations,

I've ported DjView to PlayBook. I remember nothing special about the porting. The app works in main, but it'd better to make a GUI specially for touch screen. You can find DjView BAR here:

Re: Qt desktop app to BB10

I guess that would be a additional question to this one.  How hard did you find it adding in the touch sensitivity methods like swipe menu in, or did you?

Re: Qt desktop app to BB10

Brandon,

I didn't added PlayBook-specific things like swipe down menu. And for that time this feature was not supported by Qt port.

By my opinion, pure Qt is not good enough choice to develop touch oriented GUI. QML is better.

Re: Qt desktop app to BB10

Thank you.  I want to avoid QML, although it is a great language from the looks of it.  Reason being is I remember one of the Qt Dev's mentioning if you can avoid it or are willing to avoid it do so for processing speed.  As far as convience and ease at achieving what you want without much hastle I hear QML is the ticket.  Any comment to that?

Re: Qt desktop app to BB10

I'm agree with you that QML is a great language. Same here for Cascades which based on QML. As for processing speed you can use Qt/C++ if you'll face bottle neck problem. QML extends with C++ very fine.
