Rich text input with Inline images

I tried using the TextArea component, since it  should be supporting HTML. I tried something as simple as:

<html><img src="someimage.png" /></html>

but the <img> tags do not work, they just get replaced by a "?" symbol. I tried using absolute path, relative path, tried with file:// and asset:// but all render same result. The same HTML code works fine when I tried it in a webview and the image gets displayed (only with relative path though). Does TextArea support displaying inline images at all? If not then how does it display emoticons? I'd appreciate any help regarding that. Thanks!

Images aren't supported. Here's a list of supported tags:

Better yet, with the latest SDK update it's even documented more formally here: https://developer.blackberry.com/cascades/documentation/ui/text/styles.html
