ScummVM

While I am nowhere near qualified to port ScummVM to the PlayBook it was suggested over at CrackBerry (http://forums.crackberry.com/playbook-apps-games-f243/scummvm-673201/) that I give this board a try.

ScummVM allows for old Sierra and LucasArt games to be played on modern platforms. Games like King's Quest, Day of the Tentacles, Conquest of the Longbow, and other awesome adventure games from the early 90s that we all love.

I have a lot of travelling ahead of me this month and I cannot imagine anything better than having some of these games to play on the PlayBook.

I am told that "it should be quite easy to port to PlayBook, as there is an SDL version already available." I am not sure if this is true or not but if there is someone out there who would be willing to give this a shot I know that I, and likely many others, would be very grateful.

Re: ScummVM

It's quite true that RIM has already ported SDL to the platform.

I'm not sure anyone is going to be able to jump in and port ScummVM and get a bunch of those old games working by the time you have to leave, however... but this was the right place to ask anyway.

Any takers? I'm too busy with my BBX-Python stuff... :smileyhappy:

Re: ScummVM

All the platform-specific stuff is nicely grouped into an OSystem class. Here's some info on porting:

Hello! My collegue has ported ScummVM 1.3.1 to BlackBerry PlayBook. Unfortunately, the application isn't approved yet for App World. The approvement is delayed for unknown reasons. But you can download BAR file and install it on your PlayBook. http://forum.kpda.ru/index.php/topic,720.0.html Respectfully, Oleg
