Speech bubbles

Hey,

Is there a way to make BBM/SMS/Talk style speech bubbles without having to reimplement everything myself? I would prefer a seamless integration for my app rather than a custom style.

Thanks,

Daniel

Re: Speech bubbles

Hi,

I remember there was a way to do this with BBUI.js (for BlackBerry Webworks); check out Github :smileyhappy: - https://github.com/blackberry/bbUI.js/

Re: Speech bubbles

If you are already familiar with C++ and/or QML this should be easily accomplished using a nine-sliced image of the speech bubble as the background of a container, and then use a TextArea for the text.  The container should grow as the TextArea grows.  I have not tried this myself so there might be some thing that should be the basic implementation.

If your not familiar with nine-slicing see this: http://developer.blackberry.com/native/documentation/cascades/ui/image_resources/assets.html about half way down the page is the heading Nine-Slice scaling

Hope that helps.

Re: Speech bubbles

Thank you, that will serve as a good QML tutorial, although I'll stick to the webworks one as that's exactly the same BBM/Google Talk speech bubble I'm looking for
