At this point, if you are unable to get the device recognized at all by your current machine, it may be wise to try and get it recognized by another if you have access to one - This would tell us if there is something wrong with the hardward;

I created a different user on my Mac & tried it, it worked, had some strange conflict with some pst files on my primary profile, got rid of that & it is now working again on my primary profile, 

I also updated the OS v with the latest build, now I will try the step-wise suggestions for the device setup & be back to keep you guys posted.
