Upgrading to BETA 4

Maybe this is a silly question, but I don't see any instructions on how to upgrade the current BETA3 environment to BETA 4. I am not talking about the document that has API changes - that's fine. I am talking about the Momentivs IDE in the bbndk folder.

Do we remove the old one prior to installing BETA 4? Do we install into a differernt folder and keep both? Do we just run the installer and hope for the best?

What's the correct procedure - especially for OSX.

Re: Upgrading to BETA 4

I originally installed Beta4 over Beta3 and it would freeze everytime I would open a QML file.  So I unistalled them and reinstalled just Beta4 and everything works as it should.  Figure there is no reason to have Beta3 anymore anyway.

(I'm on win7 not sure if that matters)

Re: Upgrading to BETA 4

That's exactly what I was afraid off and why I asked the question.

There should be an official HowTo upgrade your development environment for each platform.

Regardless of how simple or complicated it is - it should be there. Anyone with experience on OSX? Do we just remove the current bbndk folder and reinstall?

Yes.  I agree with you.  Can you have both beta 3 and beta 4 installed?

Re: Upgrading to BETA 4

Yes you should be able to parallel install, just install them in separate folders

Re: Upgrading to BETA 4

because of problems last time (installing beta 3 with beta 2 installed)

I removed Beta 3 then installed Beta 4, opened my workspaces and it works

to remove Beta 3 there's a Uninstall App to remove Beta 3 safe

Re: Upgrading to BETA 4

I (perhaps foolishly) installed beta 4 over beta 3 on Mac OS 10.8 and everything seems to be working fine so far.

Re: Upgrading to BETA 4

[ Edited ]

Haven't installed it yet, but I took a good look at what was added, and there are some very nice improvements. (title bar actions being my favorite addition) .

I would hope to see a real table view in the near future as well as an API to use standard icons. And while I have my wishlist out,  how about a canvas  for doing charts or maybe a GL widget

Looks really good.  Keep the peddle to the metal Cascade guys

Re: Upgrading to BETA 4

Presumably by "GL widget" you're referring to a high-level C++ class which wraps lots of the OpenGL details for you, to make it easier?

Because if you just mean one that gives you access to OpenGL, we've already got that through ForeignWindowControl, plus some native code.

Works great for charts. :-)  http://imgur.com/a/smlEo#10

Re: Upgrading to BETA 4

Thank you all for responding, but could we please keep the replies and comments related to the installation of the BETA 4 update and, in particular, what is the proper procedure to update. Uninstall, intall, reinstall over existing etc...

Thanks.
